Privacy Policy

Last updated: 09/07/2026

This policy explains what personal information we collect when you use the Living Vocally website or buy from us, how we use it, and the rights you have over it. We are committed to handling your data responsibly and in line with UK data protection law.

1.Who we are

Living Vocally is the trading name of Craig Lees, a sole trader, and is the “data controller” responsible for your personal data. Throughout this policy, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to Living Vocally, and “you” and “your” refer to you, the visitor or customer.

If you have any questions about this policy or your data, you can reach us at craig@livingvocally.com.

2.The information we collect

We only collect the information we need to respond to you and to run our business:

  • When you make an enquiry. Your name, email address, the name of your choir or organisation, and the contents of your message.
  • When you join our mailing list. Your name and email address.
  • When you buy from us. Your name, email address, billing address and country, and details of your order. Payment card details are entered directly into our payment provider’s secure systems — we never see or store your card details.
  • Automatically, as you browse. Basic, largely anonymous usage statistics collected by our website platform, and small data files called cookies (see section 4).

3.How we use your information

We use your personal data for the following purposes, each with a lawful basis under UK data protection law:

  • To respond to your enquiries and discuss working together — on the basis of our legitimate interest in answering people who contact us, and to take steps at your request before entering into a contract.
  • To process and fulfil your orders, deliver your downloads and provide support — because it is necessary to perform our contract with you.
  • To send you mailing-list updates, if you have subscribed — on the basis of your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
  • To meet our legal and accounting obligations — where we are required by law to keep certain records.
  • To understand and improve how our site is used — on the basis of our legitimate interest in running an effective website.

4.Cookies and analytics

Our website uses cookies through our website platform (Wix). These include essential cookies that make the site work, and cookies that power Wix’s built-in visitor statistics so we can see, in aggregate, how our site is used. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or external analytics services such as Google Analytics.

You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings, and through any cookie notice shown on the site. Blocking essential cookies may affect how parts of the site work.

5.Who we share your information with

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with trusted service providers who help us operate, and who act on our instructions:

  • Wix — provides our website hosting, online store and visitor statistics.
  • Mailchimp — our mailing-list provider, if you choose to subscribe.
  • Our payment provider — to process your payment securely.
  • Our accountant and HMRC — where necessary to meet our tax and accounting obligations.

Sheet music you buy through third-party distributors, such as Sheet Music Direct or ArrangeMe, is handled under those distributors’ own privacy policies, not ours. We may also disclose information where we are required to do so by law.

6.Sending data outside the UK

Some of our service providers (for example Mailchimp, and parts of Wix’s infrastructure) may process data on servers outside the United Kingdom. Where your data is transferred outside the UK, we rely on providers who protect it using appropriate safeguards recognised under UK data protection law, such as UK-approved contractual clauses.

7.How long we keep your information

  • Enquiries: kept while we are in contact with you and for a reasonable period afterwards, then deleted.
  • Customer and order data: kept while we are working with you, and for up to five years afterwards — except where the law requires us to keep certain records, such as financial and tax records, for longer (currently at least six years for HMRC purposes).
  • Mailing-list data: kept until you unsubscribe, after which you are removed from the list.

8.Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
  • ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
  • ask us to delete your data, where there is no legal reason for us to keep it;
  • ask us to restrict or object to how we use your data;
  • ask us to transfer your data to another provider; and
  • withdraw your consent at any time, for example by unsubscribing from our mailing list.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at craig@livingvocally.com. We will respond within one month.

9.Keeping your data secure

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to keep your personal data safe, and we rely on the established security of the providers we use, such as Wix and our payment provider, to store and process it securely.

10.Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal data, please contact us first at craig@livingvocally.com so we can try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK regulator for data protection, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

11.Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The version published on this page at the time applies, and the date at the top shows when it was last updated.

12.Contact
